Did you know, that the more we resist something, the more we’re likely to be stuck with it? When we resist, we project a mental energy to keep it away, a focused thought that many would deem as psychic and under conscious control..and yet, more times then not..we find that "something" moves towards us rather then away. By scientific definition, two opposing forces or energies come to a deadlock when they meet...same with psychic energy...the smash into each other in our pyschic territory and can’t move. In this way, we literally attract that which we sought to resist.
Consider the common phenomenon of children resisting the idiosyncrasies of their parents, only to grow up and act just like them. Or, when was the last time you resisted someone else’s boredom or problems and ended up being bored or in a bad mood yourself?
Resistance is related to our desire to control the "random input level" of energies entering our aura (or biokinetic field) The problem with resistance, is that it never seems to work the way we want it to! WHAT does work..is neutrality. Neutrality is a practical means of chosing one’s amount of involvement with an eye out for the greater good.
In the paranormal fields, investigators tend to develope a sympathy for a clients problem...and that is a very human trait..we have been programmed since childhood to sympathize with others and to help. However, this condition is not always desirable or appropriate in paranormal Investigative enviornments. If we beome too sympathetic, or involved..we lose our valuable composure and ability to think independantly, which may add to the clients problem. Many times..our inability to remain neutral...may actually spark activity to a higher level becuase of our added conscious energy that is fed to the enviornment.
The whole point of neutrality, is to know the possibilities of the greater whole. It means stepping far enough back at the onset to make a conscious choice. Many times picture or concentration excersises can help a person maintain neutrality...I always picture my body as a "body of glass" Invisible...i do not offer any resistance..but..I do envision any occurance as a "passing through" sensation...something that i DO not challenge, nor do i allow it to hold onto me..i simple let it pass through me.. Take for example..being startled...on investigations many times...you will have things occur that immediatley cause you to startle..your heartrate elevates..and you jump...i allow that to pass through..a wave, then gone..and then seek the source ..in this way..any fear i may have felt..was dealt with and allowed to go on..i Do not resist the feeling to jump..otherwise..it will build..and the next thing may indeed cause me to jump even more.
just food for thought..and an eye out for people who are starting in this field and may seek some excersises that help them deal with situations that may come up.
Hope this helps..
